Ubisoft has confirmed today that the Xbox Series S version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be getting an update, along with the other versions of the game, that will give players the option to play the game at 60fps.
The new update, which is version 1.04, goes live tomorrow (November 26th) and for the next-gen machines, there will be some added options. If you’re on the Xbox Series X|S or PS5, the new update will bring in two new options: Performance mode and Quality mode.
With Performance mode activated, the game will target 60fps. It comes at a catch, though, as the game will lower its resolution and alter its graphics to achieve that performance target. On Xbox Series X and PS5, this isn’t really an issue as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla runs at 60fps on both consoles. On Series S, however, the game launched with Quality mode as the default, as per Ubisoft, while the other next-gen consoles launched with “Performance” mode as the default.
With the Quality mode activated you’ll be playing with a 30fps cap but you’ll get higher resolutions and improved graphics. It’s down to the player to decide what is preferable; frame rate or resolutions?
This does mean, though, that Series S players will finally get to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at 60fps. Brilliant!
